Story of the Luther Drive Cats
One day in 2020 an elderly resident living in a senior living facility in Hagerstown reached out to us for help. She told us that she had asked other rescues and the shelter for help to trap the stray cats in her neighborhood spayed and neutered by doing TNR. She was fearful that there would be more and more kittens born and attract the attention of the management company who was not cat friendly. We started TNR in late November 2020 and continued into 2021. Mamma cat complicated things by getting pregnant and giving birth to 3 kittens under a porch, and it took us a while to track and find the kittens. Things were progressing pretty smoothly until the caretaker found out that she had cancer and passed away soon after that in March 2021. We ended up bringing Mamma, her kittens and several other cats to PurrHaven that had no place to go.
Luther Drive " Mamma"
Mamma was having 3 litters of kittens every year, elderly residents told us. |
One of Mamma's kittens "Jack-in the Box", two months old.
|
Mamma Kitten #2 "Wind", after being spayed at age 9 months. The vet told us when she spayed "Wind" that she was lactating and a litter of kittens hidden somewhere. We immediately released her early the next morning, found the kittens, re-trapped "Wind" and relocated everyone to PurrHaven.
